| May 14, 2006 | Friendly vs London Fields | Lost by 53 runs | |
Must find more CanadiansA cool Sunday in May saw the Old Fallopians contain London fields to 149 for 9 off 35 overs, writes David Sultanti. Ed Paleit, possibly knowing he'd bowled more overs than most, ask to bat lower down the order. His request was more than granted and at 6:15pm, bat in hand, walked to the non-facing end. I, batting at number 10 had, two balls earlier, been greeted by Justin Roy (batting 8) and one ball later, run him out. In two more, I'd be cleaned bowled leaving Ed bemused, not having faced a delivery (although he soon will). I expect we could look upon it as an improvement, scored 96, lost by 53, but then again... There were two new weekend players, Steve Bond and Richard Milne. Both bowled well and were bowled and in the process, Steve enjoyed a pirouette. Our bowling and fielding was good, out batting, less so. Greg Clifford bowled a mean spell but the best performance was by Canadian Jeremy Henderson who with well judged agricultural stroke play to leg (think baseball), made 28.
