A great day to be a bowler - if you played for Pacific.

We thought we had done pretty well, dismissing Pacific inside their 16 overs for 116. John Shaw excelled with his slow, accurate bowling, capturing three Pacific wickets with balls the batsmen swiped at and missed completely.

Paul Hosking took another three, but Greg Clifford struggled to keep the ball on target. Taking a wicket in his third over, his fourth turned into a nightmare as the ball swung viciously away from the stumps - leaving him with a tally of six wides for the over.

Freddie Barrass bowled three blistering overs which the batsmen were barely able to see, let alone hit. Only 12 runs were hit off his overs, but at an extra cost of eight no balls and two wides.

The Pacific bowlers proved far more fearsome for our batsmen. Against a fast and on target onslaught, Nick Clarke took nine overs to reach five before being run out. And five was the top score, shared by Fred Barrass and Simon Tate.

Although we survived for almost 15 overs, the evening ended with the Fallopians registering their lowest total in recent years - just 25.
