Blown away
As selector/captain Philip Barrass explained afterwards: "I
forgot to pick any bowlers."
An unkind judgement, as all seven who turned the ball over
each managed to fox the opposition with more than one delivery.
But the statistics speak for themselves, with Pacific only losing
one wicket as they hit 7
sixes and 21 fours hit off our bowling.
When our last wicket fell following a wild Sultanti swipe (and
miss) we had only reached a total of 77 -- some 120 runs short.
The game, played on a chilly but dry evening, marked the
mid-week debuts of Chris Curley, Ian Mylam and Tom Porter.
It also featured ex-Fallopians weekend player Darren Tempany --
appearing for Pacific. He retired on 50 and took two wickets. Why
isn't he playing for us?
