Played at Victoria Park, pitch 3
Report by Hassan Khan (captain)

We won the toss and elected to bat. However, within a few overs a devastating hat-trick from MUFG pacer Poddar had left our batting in tatters. The dependable Holmes clung on but was removed for a typically fluent 26. A valiant 17 from Barrass failed to stop the MUFG onslaught.

At 61-6, I joined Wright as last man. We put on a commendable 53 runs for the last wicket, mainly due to some belligerent strokeplay from Wright, until yours truly was unceremoniously stumped off a wide!

Still, a total of 114 at least gave OFCC something to bowl at. The MUFG openers, defying disciplined bowling from Khan and Holmes, threw the proverbial kitchen sink at everything. With only 31 needed for victory, a change of bowling brought some much needed OF success. Spin duo Mansha and McGee bowled tight lines, and McGee was rewarded with two valuable scalps.

In a match that mostly looked a hopelessly lost cause, a tense atmosphere briefly enveloped Pitch 3, as 19 runs were required from 24 balls. Anxiously scampered singles took MUFG home, although they were assisted by some helpful bowling. Nevertheless, this was a competitive game which ebbed and flowed due to an excellent OF fightback after the initial catastrophe.
