Result: Another wickets for the Old Fallopians
by 51 runs (4th consecutive win including mid-week games) - It was a
high scoring game of cricket played on a batting track
reported as best batting track in Essex by umpires report in 2014)
in a very warm June day. It was great to see 6 players turning up
early for the nets – Azaz had to leave in the middle to attend a
patient and came back in time to do the bowling. Well done to the
whole team.
Toss: Old Fallopians won the
toss and elected to bat. We had 8 bowlers and 8 batsman so both
options were open – but batting first was easier decision knowing
our main bowler Azaz would be 30 minutes late and the condition of a
batting wicket on a warm sunny day.
Batting:
Will Hopson-Hill and Rav Matharu stated the innings and quickly put
on 50 runs partnership. Will hit the largest six of the day where
the ball went past the club house, parking into the house on a large
ground (and we saw a lot of sixes from Old Fallopians). Once Will
was out to the left-hander bowler – Rav was joined by hard hitting
Karamat as he hit 16 fours and 6 sixes in a dashing innings of 130
(his first full day batting in UK). Rav reached his 50 in style with
a four and got out on a stylish 62. Sam chipped in with 22 in last 4
overs and Tom Hudson is a great find and made a solid 27 out of the
last ball. The total even of dead track was huge 295 runs at loss of
6 wickets..
Bowling: Apart from Sam and Tom
( keeper) - rest of the team bowled. 8 bowlers sharing 40 overs.
Making 244 for 5.
Hassan Khan and Darryl Christie started really
well and got a wicket each to get rid of good openers. Darryl
cleaned up Steve Huckstepp with a fast ball outside off stump that
got a well-deserved edge to safe hands of keeper Tom Hudson, whereas
Hassan got the hard hitting batsman R Blackburn via a short rising
delivery that was well taken by Tom again. After that partnership
started to develop, John Shaw and Azaz Khalil bowled a tight line
keeping score in check. Once batsman were well set – then came in
Rav and Karamat. Both keep the pressure up and Karamat and got three
quick wickets - two bowling spin and one bowling medium fast.
Fielding: It was a good fielding all around –
Karamat, Rav and Tom were standing out of the crowd – but whole team
fielded very well. John Shaw, Steve Hamilton and Sam took few blows
on the body to save runs.
